Aurubis generates significant profit increase compared with the prior year

HIGHLIGHTS
» EBT in the first nine months of the fiscal year € 211 million (€ -8 million in the
prior year)
» Operating result (EBT) € 122 million (€ 16 million in the prior year); Valuation
effects in the amount of € 89 million (€ -24 million in the prior year)
» Revenues increased to € 7.0 billion due to higher metal prices (€ 4.7 billion in
the prior year)
» Improved market situation for scrap and other recycling materials; profit
contribution on account of higher material input above prior-year level
» Sulphuric acid market has recovered
» Production in all product groups increased significantly
» Strong improvement in product sales due to economic uptrend in almost all
customer industries
» Outlook:
- Treatment and Refining Charges for copper concentrate expected to be on
actual low level for the next months; improved supply situation expected in
the medium term
- Supply of secondary raw materials remains good
- Basically positive assessment of copper market trend; continuing high
demand expected
- Continuation of good business performance expected again in the fourth
quarter; annual results will be significantly higher than in the prior fiscal year
Hamburg, 11 August 2010 – Aurubis AG (Aurubis) has maintained its high level of earnings of the first half-year and achieved good results after nine months. Earnings were again considerably improved compared with the prior year.
